The city’s leading supplier of food for low-income families is in desperate need of donations.

Harvesters said the number of families and area food pantries needing help is way up, but donations aren’t keeping up the pace.

“Our food supply cannot keep up with the need,” Harvesters CEO Karen Haren said.

Harvesters hands out food to 300 local pantries, some of which are now rationing food.

Haren said if donations don’t improve, the handouts could be cut back to just one day of food.
