Britain suffered its second death from H1N1 flu late on Saturday after a 73-year-old man with serious previous health problems died from the virus in a Scottish hospital, Scotland’s health minister said on Sunday.

“Although it is concerning that the patient had swine flu, we are aware that the patient had very serious underlying health issues,” said Scottish Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon.

“It’s important to remember that the vast majority of those who have H1N1 are suffering from relatively mild symptoms,” she added.

Europe’s first death from H1N1 flu, commonly known as swine flu, occurred in Scotland on June 14.
