The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is joining the FBI today to hold a Virginia agricultural terrorism conference.
The event, being held at the Smithfield Center in Smithfield, will address how the state would respond to an act of terrorism affecting the food supply, veterinary medicine, food processors and other aspects of agriculture.
Topics include agri-terrorism indicators and threats, federal and state resources, critical agriculture and food facilities, weapons of mass destruction countermeasures, domestic terrorism, animal health capabilities, food safety capabilities and plant protection capabilities.
